Martinez Horsemen Association

"We'll see you There!"

Martinez Horsemen's Association

Founded in  1945, MHA is one of the oldest horsemen's groups in the County and the State. We were founded to promote good horsemanship, good friendship and community service, things we hold to still. Membership in MHA also gives you membership in the California State Horseman's Association- Region 5.

Our members tend to be a diverse group of horsemen and women, ranging from strictly trail riders to carriage drivers; from reining enthusiasts to English riders. Our oldest member is about 70- and our youngest about 10. We are proud that several of our youngest members are CSHA Royalty for 2008!

Each year at the end of July we hold a Charity Event for one of our favorite groups- Xenophon Therapeutic Riding Academy. The Battle of the Barns is held the last Saturday in July. It features ten teams competing in playday type games- all vying for the title " Best Barn in The Bay Area". For more information see the Battle of the Barns page.

Arena Rental

Arena Rental is available through the MHA. Our Equestrian Park is one of the best in Contra Costa County. It features a sand based arena, 155' wide x 255 ' long. There are five catch pens at the East end suitable for cattle. Stadium bleachers can seat up to 1000 people. The announcers booth and snack shack areas are included in the rental fee. If you do not wish to run the snack shack, MHA can arrange to run the snack shack on the day of your event. There is plenty of parking and shade, water in three places around the arena, and toilets maintained by East Bay Regional Park. The Equestrian Park is easily accessible from Highways 80, 680 and 4.
Prices for a one day horseshow begin at $225.00 per day.
Please call Roxanne Crosby at 925-228-7981 for accessibility and available dates for 2007-2008.
